Google Play To Require Multi-Factor Authentication for Developers
Starting in August of 2021, developers wishing to deploy on Google Play will be required to adhere to more strict standards for accounts. This is for a variety of reasons, but mostly to better secure legitimate accounts and prevent the creation of fake ones. If a Google Play developer has not already, they will be required to verify both their email and phone number. Google notes that users should actively check for periodic emails and calls to confirm the contact information is still valid. For that reason, Google also suggests you not use the same email as your user account or some other generic account. It should be associated with your company or organization and actively monitored. Multi-factor authentication is conducted through the Google Authenticator app that is pre-authenticated on your mobile device. Like similar MFA systems, you then enter the cycling number as login.
